Translation of message inside this CD’s booklet:
This project began from a casual conversation.
It first took place at Bandai’s booth in “Jump Fiesta 2007,” which was held at the end of the year 2006 in Makuhari Messe. Bandai’s representative and I talked about how, because 2007 would make it 10 years since Digimon was first sold as a handheld game, we would at least like to set up some event for Summer 2007.
We figured that if we were going to do this, we should celebrate with something different from what we’ve already done before. I thought of a lot of things, but fell ill midway and had to semi-retire at the hospital for 50 days. After that, the representative for Bandai was changed, so the project was put to a temporary standstill.
But the “Digimon Chou Shinka Best!” CD that was re-released at the end of year 2006 became a big hit that sold over 20,000, and feeling that there must be something we could do to return the favor, the project idea was brought back into action.
At first, we considered forming a collaboration with an event, but it began to move in the direction of a CD collaboration that included the 5 main characters and the major artists from all 5 series. We’d never put all successive main characters onto one CD jacket before, and it was by sheer coincidence that our sale date was decided for August 1st, so we thought it may turn out to be the best present for the fans that we’ve yet created.
Everyone on the artist team was already skilled in making their own song and composition styles, so we received works that reflected their feelings for Digimon. Also, since the project was finally becoming a reality, I had a personal desire to hear those certain people sing new songs. With the tireless help of a large number of people, the project was able to take shape as you see here. Now I’d like to take this moment to give my deepest gratitude to everyone involved.
It will soon be 10 years since the anime first started as well.
It will make me happy if we can still do something precious for that time, in order to bring to mind once again the scenery we’d seen back then.
August 1st, 2007… I wonder if many people are gathering in Odaiba again for this year?
I hold anticipation that something will be born again from this memorial album…
And I pray that these “feelings” will reach the fans of Digimon all over the world…

The three main characters of Tamers talk about their memories from back then.

The growth of their characters and their Digimon’s evolution?!

What sort of atmosphere was the recording studio like back in the day?

Fumiko Orikasa-san (abbreviated FO below) How many years has it been?
Mayumi Yamaguchi-san (abbreviated MY below) Five years, I think?
Makoto Tsumura-san (abbreviated MT below) It looks that way~
MY Oh dear… that’s amazing. Time really does fly.
MT Indeed. Guilmon sure was cute~ The part where he was very innocent at first and didn’t know anything was good. Even though he gradually got smarter. (laughs)
MY You make it sound like he stopped being cute (laughs). But I guess I remember more of the heartwarming feel in the beginning. When we moved into the second half of the series, it got all muddly…
MT Right, right. In the Digital World, we had to face oncoming waves of battles, so it turned into a difficult time… Now that I think about it, Jian kept stopping Terriermon^[1] from evolving at first, didn’t he?
MY Yup. I thought Terriermon was cute the way he was, so I wanted him to stay that way too. It wasn’t that I didn’t want him to evolve, just that I wanted him to stay cute…
FO So that’s why Jian kept preventing him from evolving too! (laughs)
MY Right, right. (laughs)
MT He was the Digimon who changed appearances in the most drastic way.

Was there any sort of reaction regarding that among the cast while recording?

▲Makoto Tsumura “Sazae-san” (as Wakame Isono), “Astro Boy: Tetsuwan Atom” (as Atom), etc. From Hokkaido.

MY Quite a lot, actually! There was this feeling of “ehhhh” coming from all of us, and there was even some booing involved. The person voicing him herself^[2] also let out a yell of surprise. (laughs) Apparently she’d been casted in the first place to act cute, but for it to end up that way had given her a shock.

By evolving, she has to change the way she acts after all.

MT All of those in the cast who voiced Digimon were like that. The forms that they’re introduced as evolve bigger and stronger, so they had to step up their acting each time.
MY Hiroki-kun^[3] was dripping with sweat in the end (laughs). He did really well.
FO Hiroki-kun looked like he had a lot more trouble with his beginning form. (laughs)
MY Impmon, right? You’re right, that role was probably the most troublesome. I personally thought it would be funny if Culumon got all muscular though (laughs).
MT Culumon became good friends with Juri, didn’t he?
MY But in the end, it got all jumbled up somewhat (laughs).
FO In any case, Juri-chan was a sad girl. Judging from her family situation too…

About the backgrounds of each character

The fact that each character comes with their own family background is one of the best parts of the Digimon series.

MT Takato grew up in a bakery^[4], so while Tokyo was having trouble, there was a scene where he made bread by himself. What did Ruki-chan’s family do again? They lived in a large estate.
FO Her mother was a model, but… the only adult who was there with Ruki for most of the time was her grandma.
MT What about her father?
FO He wasn’t with them. Some memories of him came up during the movie, but… All of the characters surrounding Ruki — her grandma, her mother, and Renamon — where all voiced by Imai-san^[5], which I thought was pretty amazing.
MY It felt like you two were enough to fill an entire family.
MT I was really impressed too!
MY Speaking of which, Renamon hardly seemed to change when she evolved. Unlike Terriermon… (laughs)
MT Oh, I remember Kyubimon very well… Since she was a nine-tailed fox^[6], it left a very big impression on me.

It’s tough work acting as Digimon?! What happened in audition…

While acting as your character, was there ever a time when you wanted to voice a Digimon?

MT Yes! Like Terriermon. I wanted to try a cute role. I kept wanting to try one the whole time, and the series ended without me getting a chance. (laughs)
MY I voiced a Digimon^[7] in the first series. My role as Jian was decided through audition, but back then, the thought that I’d be accepted for audition never crossed my mind, so I mentioned how cute Terriermon was while looking at the promotional pictures, like it was someone else’s business. (laughs)
FO I auditioned for a number of roles back then, with Ruki being one of them. I also tried out for Impmon at the same time. I’d voiced him with no idea of what the storyline even was, so I have memories of wondering who would be Impmon and it turned out to be Hiroki-kun! (laughs)
MT A woman could certainly get away with voicing Impmon.
MY But it would be pretty scary if that happened for real~ (laughs)
FO I never expected the storyline to end up that way, so when I think about that now, it is scary. (laughs)
MT In my case, my audition tape didn’t reach the casting office the first time, so I was decided for the role after a tryout later on.
MY If no one had realized that then, Tsumura-san’s Takato wouldn’t have existed. That’s also kind of amazing. (laughs)

Did you ever face something difficult while acting as Takato?

MT Takato was a normal boy, so he was very easy to act.
MY He was exactly like you~ (laughs). I thought it was wonderful how you were able to express a pure-hearted elementary school child so naturally.

How about Jian?

MY I voiced him without much conscious effort, but somehow I kept getting told that I made him sound sexy. Aoi-chan^[2] would be the one who’d tell me that, and I’d answer back that Terriermon shouldn’t say such things. (laughs)
MT We’d also call him Zenra [Note: Zenra = buck naked] instead of Jianliang. (laughs)
MY You’re right, even though everyone is naked when they evolve to Ultimate. That part was really embarrassing. (laughs)

How about Ruki?

FO I think I acted her role without as much difficulty as I expected. At any rate, I went with Ruki being cool, without having it seem like she had much friends. (laughs)
MY Ruki is a tsundere^[8], isn’t she?
FO Oh, maybe! She wasn’t described in that way back then, though.
MY She was tsundere of the season. Must’ve been nice.
FO Ruki was the first character for me that had common phrases. That’s why when it came time to saying things like “Card Slash,” I’d look at how the two of you did it first while thinking about how I should speak.

Have you ever wanted to see your character in a certain way?

MT I’d like to see him in a relationship, whether it’s with Juri-chan or not. I want to see him try making advances. Without changing my voice. (laughs)
MY He won’t get past saying “Um” or “Ah,” I expect. I’d like to see what Jian does in his daily life. Like whether or not he just sits in front of his computer all day or maybe have an episode of “Jianliang goes to Akihabara” (laughs). Maybe he tries to go into maid cafes while making sure no one sees him or he doesn’t go into any stores and just buys bulk items along the streets.
FO In that case, Ruki would probably be made to join an Akihabara tour. Then when she’s walking along, she’ll get pointed at to voices of “There’s the Digimon Queen!” (laughs).

Please leave a message to the fans who have watched the show then.

MT Probably the impression that you had five years ago will be different from what you get now. For the amount of time that’s passed, the impact you receive from it will change, so it’d be nice if you enjoyed that.
MY If you buy it now with your New Year’s money, you can watch it at any time so I’d like it if even your children and grandchildren enjoyed it too. I think this story is a very good asset, so I’d like others to watch it by all means.
FO Those who keep the DVDs at hand must be super-fans, so I’d like for you to look back on the scenery and what else has changed from five years’ time, as well as enjoy this story of everyone’s friendships and youth once more.

N1) Jian kept stopping Terriermon — Jian was against the idea of Digimon fighting each other and so kept Terriermon from evolving. That was because letting him evolve would mean that he had to fight. Jian’s way of thinking was the exact opposite of Ruki, who thought that fighting was a Digimon’s reason for existing, but it grew evident that the Digimon themselves also wanted to evolve. By interacting not just with Takato and Ruki, but with Guilmon and Renamon, Jian reevaluates his thinking on both his partner’s evolution and fighting.
N2) The person voicing him herself — Aoi Tada-san who voices Terriermon. The same “Aoi-chan” who Yamaguchi-san refers to later on. As a Digimon partner, she also voices the evolved forms like Gargomon. Terriermon first appears in “Digimon Adventure 02″‘s movie “Digimon Hurricane Jouriku!!/Chouzetsu Shinka!! Ougon no Digimental” and is voiced by Tada-san. What’s more, she also voices Jian’s younger sister Shaochung’s partner, Lopmon.
N3) Hiroki-kun — Hiroki Takahashi-san who voices Beelzebumon/Impmon. A popular voice actor who is famous for performing a wide range of roles, from cool to comedic, as can be seen in “Konjiki no Gash Bell!!” (as Parco Folgore), “Tennis no Oujisama” (as Eiji Kikumaru), and “School Rumble” (as Kenji Harima). He apparently voiced Impmon and Beelzebumon with such enthusiasm that Yamaguchi-san says he came out sweating “as if he’s been under a waterfall”.
N4) Bakery — Takato’s home above the “Matsuda Bakery.” A small bakery located a bit outside of West Shinjuku, Takato often helps out his parents at the store. It is shown in episode 43 (“Hearts Connect! The Revival of Beelzebumon”!) that Takato knows how to make bread, when Takato and the others go to the store while the city has been evacuated due to the D-Reaper and make bread for breakfast. In the latter half of the series, Takato’s father also makes bread in the shape of Guilmon’s head.
N5) Imai-san — Yuka Imai-san who voices Renamon. She not only voices Kyubimon, but also Ruki’s mother and grandmother. Chiaki Konaka-san talks about this casting in his homepage, saying that it was a suggestion from producer Seki Hiromi-san. The song when Sakuyamon evolves is not only sung by Imai-san, but she also came up with the lyrics. Other than “Digimon Tamers,” she has performed in such roles as Yuki-sensei in “Ojamajo Doremi”.
N6) Nine-tailed fox — Renamon’s evolved form, Kyubimon, who is modeled after the nine-tailed fox spirit. It is a fictional existence that came from ancient Chinese legend, but in Japan it is famous for transforming into a beautiful woman from “Tamamo-no-mae” which is a story written in the “Otogizoushi” during the Heian period.
N7) Voiced a Digimon — About Gabumon, who appeared as Yamato Ishida’s Digimon partner in “Digimon Adventure” and “Digimon Adventure 02”. Due to his shyness, he wears Garurumon’s pelt over his normal form. His true form underneath the pelt is said to be a “reptile Digimon,” but does not make an appearance in the anime. Yamaguchi-san often passes by the Oogado Crossing in Shinjuku even now, and says that she often remembers “Digimon Tamers” at that time.
N8) Tsundere — One of the character types often used to describe female characters in video games and anime. Although they have romantic interest in the main character, they cannot express that feeling well and so take on a “tsun” [prickly] attitude in front of other people. But when the two of them are alone, they change into a “dere” [sweet] attitude, which describes the tsundere. There are various theories as to where the word first sprung from, but it became popular usage around 2002. Afterwards in 2006, it was nominated for the “New/Popular Word Award”.

A cheerful and positive 5th grade boy in Odaiba elementary school. He appears to move with reckless abandon, but he actually does take in his surroundings and he takes good care of his juniors in the soccer club. He can be a bit insensitive, but he acts as a reliable older brother figure to Koushiro and Takeru. If he doesn’t know/understand something, he acts while he tries to figure it out; ever since they come to File Island, this active characteristic of him is what makes him the one who pulls the rest of the children along. After he learns that the Digital World is made up of data, he begins to feel as if he is inside a video game and takes dangerous actions. But once realizing that, despite being data, he cannot start over like in reality if something were to happen to him, his desire to win over his fear and his mistakes leads him to learn what true courage is.

Taichi’s partner. With three sharp claws on each hand, his attitude of rushing to attack extremely strong enemies without fear comes from his partner. His appetite as well can be pretty ferocious. There are many times when he and Taichi both share their opinions to each other frankly, but due to his cheerful and honest personality, there are very little times when they end up fighting. His sense of justice is strong, and he is a reliable partner who evolves right away to protect Taichi when the situation looks grim. After his dark evolution to SkullGreymon, he feels at unease about evolution just like Taichi does, preventing him from even evolving into Greymon. However, after his training under Piccolomon, he learns the guts to challenge himself over and over again without fear of failure.
Baby Flame = Agumon’s special technique. He breathes out a ball of fire from his mouth. If he holds back from full power, he can even use it to light a campfire.

5th grader in Odaiba elementary school. He joins the children’s camp with his younger brother Takeru. With his cool personality, he does not make attempts to hang out with anyone other than Takeru, but he is more considerate than anyone by keeping an eye on everyone’s conditions of fatigue and nerves. There are many times when he is the one who prevents Taichi from trying to tackle everything from the front. He can be pretty overprotective of Takeru, and considers it his job to protect Takeru because “he can’t do anything by himself.” During their fight with the Dark Masters, seeing Takeru’s growth causes him to lose footing on his identity, but through his clash with Taichi and his connection with Gabumon, he takes another look at himself and learns the meaning of true friendship: that there are times when you compensate for the weakness of others and vice-versa.

Yamato and Takeru’s father. Director of Fuji TV’s news report division, he is the type to put his own self in danger in order to gather information. While devoted to his job, he also cares deeply for his family and even now carries a picture of his family from 4 years ago before they were broken up by the divorce.
Hiroaki’s subordinates – Sakurada (owns a radio cassette player. When he is feeling stressed out, he uses it to listen to the Heart Sutra), Chioka, and Yuki (the female reporter). The news report division staff. After being attacked by a school of Gizamon, they are taken hostage to Big Sight where they show the same active abilities as their boss by helping out big time with Taichi’s father plans of escape.

5th grader in Odaiba elementary school. She is a member of the soccer club just like Taichi. While a strong-willed girl who is powerful enough to play 2-top with Taichi as the team’s striker, she is also a sensible, level-headed person who is thoughtful about the smallest details. She takes good care of the younger children in the group, like Mimi, Takeru, and Hikari, and she is loved by them as a kind older sister. On the other hand, she also has a delicate side to her and often keeps her troubles to herself. Her mother once stopped her from participating in a soccer match, and Sora misunderstood her actions by thinking that her mother only cared about her being the successor of the family’s iemoto tradition. However, while she was trying to stop an injured Piyomon from joining a fight, she realized how her mother must have felt when she had stopped Sora.

Sora’s mother, whose is the iemoto in the art of flower arranging. Because she expresses herself somewhat strictly, there are times when she is misunderstood. However she loves Sora from the very bottom of her heart. When Vamdemon attacked, she disguised herself with Piyomon and blended in with a crowd of Bakemon in order to find Sora.

4th grader in Odaiba elementary school. To Taichi and Sora, he is also their junior in the soccer club. Although normally a polite boy, once his curiosity gets a hold of him he pursues it without being considerate of those around him. He is good at computers, even bringing his laptop to camp, which in the end became useful in revealing the truth of the Digimon world. He learned by accident that he is an adopted child and was troubled over his relationship with his parents, who were thinking of keeping this quiet from him until he became an adult. When Vamdemon isolated Odaiba, his parents told him the truth themselves for the first time, and he once more felt bonded to them as his real parents, as they had raised him as their own son.

Koushiro’s adopted father. He is a distant relative of Koushiro’s real father, who was a genius mathematician. He shows understanding for the many strange aspects of Koushiro’s personality compared to those of children his own age, and has a huge capacity of accepting his idiosyncrasies.

Koushiro’s adopted mother. With her mother’s intuition, she had a feeling that perhaps Koushiro knew that he was adopted. She gives Koushiro the same love that she would of her own son, but wishes that he would act more like how a child should and show a bit more selfishness.

– Tachikawa Mimi
=A pure-hearted girl with a free spirit=
4th grader in Odaiba Elementary. She moves at her own pace and has a bit of a selfish side to her, but because of her honest and cheerful personality, she cannot be hated for this. For some reason, she is particularly well-liked by dirty types of Digimon, like Numemon and Sukamon. She is kind at heart, and after the Dark Masters appear she could no longer stand that a large number of Digimon were giving up their own lives to protect them and so decides to leave the group temporarily. However, upon accepting the death of Leomon, who had died protecting her from MetalEtemon, she decides to fight the Dark Masters so that he can once again be born in the Village of Beginnings. Starting with Ogremon, she leads a crowd of Digimon towards the top of Spiral Mountain.

Mimi’s father. He has a quiet personality but when the situation calls for it, he does what needs to be done. He once crashed an electric cart into DarkTyranomon. He is so lovey-dovey with his wife Satoe that even Mimi can’t help but roll her eyes. His wife’s homemade cooking is a feast to his senses.
—— Tachikawa Satoe. Mimi’s mother. The food she makes is quite original in that she would make kimchi fried rice topped with whipped cream and strawberries. When it was time to escape from Big Sight, she complained not to make her husband have to do anything dangerous.

=A cute girl Digimon who loves fashion=
=Child/ Data/ Plant type=
Mimi’s Digimon. A plant-type Digimon, she can unleash many different kinds of smells from the flower on top of her head. She can also suck up nourishment from the ground and perform photosynthesis. Although a bit timid at certain times, she is mainly a kind, gentle Digimon who loves cute and fashionable things just like Mimi. Her feelings are easily in sympathy with Mimi’s, so whenever Mimi cries, she also cries, and whenever Mimi laughs, she also laughs. When Mimi was saddened by the sacrifices the Digimon made for them and left the group, she was prevented from fighting, but upon seeing Leomon fight hard to protect them, she begs Mimi to let her fight, too.

Palmon’s special attack is extending her nails filled with poison towards the enemy. They can also be used as a rope. [Has art showing normal Palmon and in her princess costume]

A baby whose body is covered with long fur that it looks like a fluff ball. It travels through the air in an airy fashion.

=Baby/ NA / Bulb type=
With two leaves coming out of her head, she can now perform photosynthesis. It is in this form that she meets Mimi on File Island for the first time.
– Togemon
=Adult/ Data / Plant type=
The evolved form of Palmon after being inspired by the Numemon’s desperate struggle against Monzaemon. Her personality as the fashion-loving Palmon hasn’t changed in the slightest, but now she displays a powerful boxing style. Her attack is unleashing the thorns on her body at the enemy, “Chiku Chiku Bang Bang.”
– Lilimon
=Perfect / Data / Fairy type=
The Perfect Level that is born out of the flower on top of Togemon’s head. When Vamdemon’s army attacks and drags Mimi’s family and the people of Odaiba into it, Mimi’s tears of being unable to forgive that lead the way towards her super-evolution. She has a form similar to that of a human girl, and the four wings on her back allow her to fly the skies freely. The “Flower Necklace” she can make appear from air can make bad viruses in a rampaging Digimon disappear.

– Kido Jyou
=Goes his own path in all seriousness=
6th grader in Odaiba elementary school. Since he planned on taking the entrance exam for a private middle school, he originally didn’t want to go to camp. A serious boy with a strong sense of responsibility, he worked hard as the oldest in the group to bring everyone back to their world safely, but because of his faintheartedness and lack of self-confidence he isn’t all that reliable. Because he is too honest, he often makes unnecessary remarks that discourage everyone. He aims to be a doctor because his dad tells him to, but his brother worries that it may not be the right career choice for Jyou since he faints at the sight of blood. But while caring for the injured Ogremon on Spiral Mountain, he awakens to the simple feeling that he wishes to help those in need before him.

Jyou’s oldest brother and a medical student. When the Bakemon attacked their family, he was sleeping in the closet and so avoided the danger. He well understands Jyou and worries about him, for Jyou chooses to live a future that their father wants him to. Shin is thinking of working on an isolated island that has no doctor in the future.

2nd grader in Kawada elementary school. He is Yamato’s younger brother, but because of their parents’ divorce, he currently lives only with their mother. Because he is the youngest among the Chosen Children, he is treated with great care among the group and he himself has a very friendly and innocent personality. He can be somewhat of a crybaby, but he has shown times when he volunteered himself to stay up as guard for the night or acted as a diligent worker who wouldn’t allow others to favor him with kindness. Due to memories of his parents’ divorce, he hates seeing two people he loves fight each other. Although small, his sense of justice is very strong and there are some cases when this quality appears almost to the point of stubbornness. When Hikari, who is the same age as him, joins their group, he grows even tougher and gains a strong heart that refuses to give up under any circumstances.

Taichi’s younger sister and a 2nd grader in Odaiba elementary school. Because she caught a summer cold, she is unable to go to camp and rests at home. When Taichi is blown back towards Tokyo along with Koromon after their fight with Etemon, she acts as if she had once met Koromon, confusing the two. The truth turns out to be that 4 years ago when Digimon appeared in the real world, she and Taichi encounter Koromon for the first time, but Hikari is the only one who remembers it clearly. She becomes known as the eighth Chosen Children before long, partnering with Tailmon, and joining the rest of the children to their adventures back in the Digital World. Because she had recently gotten over an illness, she gives off the impression that she is very sickly throughout the series, but she is actually a cheerful and bright girl. That strength of hers is shown when she would not give in to fear even in front of Vamdemon.

Rather than think first, he is the　reckless, hot-blooded type who acts with all of his power. He has a strong heart that refuses to ever give up, and he is very loyal to his friends. Daisuke was the first to accept Ken, who was once their enemy, into their group. In the movie, he also shows kindness when he sheds tears for Wallace whom he had only met recently. At school, he is in the same A-class with Takeru and Hikari. Due to his attraction for Hikari, he views Takeru as a tough rival. A soccer boy, he has a senpai-kouhai relationship with Taichi in the soccer club. His dream is to become the world’s best ramen shop owner.

Koushiro’s junior, and current captain of Odaiba elementary school’s computer club. She is pretty good at computers and mechanics. It is also Miyako’s duty to make the call “Digital Gate Open! Chosen Children, let’s go!!” She is Iori and Takeru’s neighbor, living in the same condo as them. Because she moved to Odaiba in 5th grade, the Digimon fight in the Internet that occurred in spring 2000 is her first encounter with the Digimon.

The youngest among the year 2003 members, he is quite mature for his age. He acts courteously and politely in a way that’s hard to believe coming from a 9 year old. His father who was a policeman died 3 years ago, so his grandfather Chikara raised him in his father’s place. While always self-composed and hard on himself, he is clumsy at expressing himself as a child. He also does not like lies. Because of his diligence and strong sense of responsibility, he is not all that flexible and was unable to forgive Ken for being the Digimon Kaiser for some time. Before long, he learns about the relationship between his father and Oikawa, the man who threatens the Digital World.

Iori’s grandfather. He has a strict personality and is raising Iori with discipline in the place of his late son, Hiroki. However, unfitting of his age, he is good at being humorous and he likes cliched gags. His favorite food is the CHUx2 jelly. Long ago, back when Hiroki believed in the Digital World’s existence, he forbid Hiroki from being friends with Oikawa and felt secretly accountable for that afterwards. In episode 47, when the series draws to its close, Chikara explains everything when Iori reveals Armadimon to him.

The form of Takeru three years later, since his adventures as a Chosen Child in 1999. His elementary school is the same as Daisuke and the others, Odaiba elementary school, Class 5-A. His Digivice changes into the green D-3 from the power of his Digimental of Hope. Perhaps due to his experiences in the adventure at a young age, he is very calm and composed than others his own age; but when he came near to losing Patamon, he showed excessive fear. Normally he is a quiet and kind-hearted boy, but his hatred for the “darkness” that had once taken Angemon’s life is stronger than anyone else’s.

Taichi’s sister, who had once joined the adventure as the 8th Chosen Child. 11 years old. Without a trace of the easily-sick impression that she had three years ago, she has grown up into a vigorous and healthy young girl. Her D-3 is pink. Her Digimental is the same as her Crest, “Light”. As ruler of the “light” that points towards “evolution” in the Digital World, she is a special existence among the children. In elementary school, she is in the same Class 5-A as Daisuke and Takeru. She smoothly avoids the feelings of affection that Daisuke directs at her, showing an aspect of her befitting a girl of her age. However, her emotional dependence on her brother Taichi is still as strong as ever.

– Digimon Kaiser
=The Digital World’s new ruler=
A tyrant who suddenly appears in the Digital World. Confident and prideful, his way of thinking is evil and cruel. He looks down at everyone around him, viewing both humans and Digimon as “insects!” For the Kaiser, who thinks Digimon are only data, taking over the Digital World is only a game. At the time, he did not show himself at night, but after episode 9 when his identity is revealed, he leaves the real world to reside in the Digital World. Through repeated experiments on multiple Digimon, he develops the Evil Spiral that allows him to evolve Digimon to Perfect Level without the use of a Crest and control them. Before long, his twisted talents create the fused monster Chimeramon using the fearsome Devimon’s data as its base.

=The genius boy who awakens to “kindness”=
A genius boy who is featured even on TV. Everyone likes him and he is known throughout the world as good-natured, moral person who cannot be faulted for anything. Although a 5th grader and 11 years old, he shows his genius in many forms of mental and physical fields such as computer programming, speaking Spanish, soccer, archery, and chess.
However, he was in truth the Digimon Kaiser, cruel tyrant of the Digital World. His D-3 color is black. While there is a time he is troubled over the weight of his sins and acts apart from the children, his friendship with Daisuke grows. As the Chosen Child of “Kindness,” he fights for the Digital World and the Digimon.

Ken’s parents. They put all of their attention on Ken’s genius older brother Osamu, neglecting to show as much care to the young Ken. When Ken lost his heart as the Digimon Kaiser and fell into a deep sleep, his parents realize for the first time that their way of raising their children had distorted their sons’ hearts. His father works at a computer company. His mother’s specialty dish is hamburgers. The family lives in room 303 in the “Tamachi T.M. Mansion” condo in Tamachi.

Ken once had an older brother Osamu, who was three years older than him. While Osamu was Ken’s role model, Osamu was also so superior in everything that he was also an object of envy. His genius older brother monopolized their parents love and the admiration of everyone around them. Ken himself had nothing. While he came to think of himself in this way, a Digivice appeared before the two one day. Ken takes the Digivice in hand and catches a glimpse of the Digital World. Ken was a Chosen Child. But jealous of this, Osamu takes the Digivice from him. Ken wishes for his brother to disappear. Two years from now, as if granting that wish, Osamu is killed in a car accident. His brother died just as he wished. At his funeral, Oikawa learns of Ken and skillfully manipulates Ken’s heart, inviting him to the sea of darkness.

He gives the goggles he cherished along with “courage” to Daisuke. Now that he’s in middle school, he has his own room.

8th grader in Odaiba middle school. 14 years old. He’s grown out his hair and is active in a band. The “TEEN-AGE WOLVES” group that he formed with his friends is popular enough to be broadcast on TV as a Christmas event. Starting with Daisuke’s older sister, Jun, he is supported by many fans. He is secretly happy about his younger brother Takeru living closer. On August 1st that comes once a year, he invited Takeru to the Ishida residence and treated him to a special dinner.

8th grader in Odaiba middle school. 14 years old. After going into middle school, she joined the tennis club. Her experiences in the adventure have taught her to have a wider world view, and she has begun to challenge herself to become more feminine. Her relationship with her mother has gotten very good, and now she is learning flower-arranging and tennis from her. Some time immediately after that, she begins to have feelings for Yamato and the two of them start going out around Christmas. In Russia, she and Miyako make a lot of effort together in order to protect borscht.

Sora’s father, a professor who teaches folkloristics at Tokyo University. His research takes him all over the world, and currently he is staying in Kyoto. Feeling that the spirits in Japanese folklore such as the kitsune and tanuki are similar to Digimon, not only is he grateful to the Digimon for aiding in his daughter’s growth, but he also appears to have an interest in the Digimon themselves. After meeting Miyako by coincidence while she is on a school trip, he told her about the four holy beasts that protected Kyoto from every direction. He also shows himself to be a somewhat comical person when he responds with an enthusiastic “Bingo!”

Haruhiko is almost never at home due to his immersion in his research, while the mother is busy upholding the iemoto tradition. As a result, they are deeply grateful to the Digimon for keeping their family together.

— Izumi Koushiro
7th grader in Odaiba middle school. 13 years old. In both elementary and middle school, he is a member of the computer club. Since a computer is the basic necessity to open the Digital Gate, Daisuke and the others often rely on him. His inquisitive nature is the same as always, and his interest in the Digital World is deeper than anyone else’s. After Ken joins their group, he would often ask questions and listen to Ken’s stories. By doing such activities as developing a program that would detect the Digital Gate and taking the role of staff officer in strategical meetings, he acts as the brains of the group for the children.

7th grade. 13 years old. Because of her father’s work, the three-person family move to New York. She returns once to Japan to go to her (male) cousin’s wedding, but every time she makes an appearance, one can see that both her hair style and fashion sense make big changes. Her laid-back and free-spirited personality is the same as when she was younger, but her selfish actions have decreased. In New York, she is friends with Michael and other children who have Digimon partners.

His personality is even more serious and diligent than before, and he now gives off a more mature aura.

Due to his tanned skin, sparkling white teeth, and pleasant smile, Ruki sarcastically describes him to be releasing “the perfect sparkling aura,” and his actions show beyond the shadow of a doubt to be filled with nothing but friendship and good intentions. His abilities are quite high, and he is able to use the Device card that only the truly strong Tamer is said to be able to master. After he returns to the Real World with Takato and the others, he goes back to his home in Kyushu temporarily, until the appearance of the D-Reaper in Tokyo prompts him to come running back.

A fifth grader who lives in Jiyuugaoka. By receiving a message on a cell phone titled “A game that will decide your future,” he enters into a journey to the Digital World. After obtaining the spirit of Agnimon, one of the 10 Legendary Warriors, at the Flame Terminal, he becomes the first among the children to evolve into a Digimon. At home, he is always having to look after his younger brother, and he is the older brother type who always thinks about his friends before himself. His sense of justice is strong, and when he hears a voice calling for help, whether it is his friends or Digimon, he cannot ignore it. Because of that, he naturally ends up taking up the leadership position in the group.

It was during this time that he receives a message about “A game that will decide his future,” along with another message that is sent only to him claiming that by going to the Digital World, he will discover the secrets that have been imposed upon him. Perhaps because he has been raised as an only child, he shows himself at a loss on how to handle younger children such as Tomoki, but he learns to naturally care for others by following Takuya’s example. His ability to make calm and rational decisions is the best among the children, and even though he is sometimes at odds with Takuya, he protects his friends from danger. When he at last meets his older twin brother, Kouichi, after having been separated at birth, he learns the true meaning behind his journey.

After finding out from his grandmother at her sickbed that he had a brother, he grows interested in meeting Kouji, whom he had not seen before. However, when he does, he gradually starts harboring feelings of resentment, for Kouji appeared to live a life that lacked nothing while Kouichi and his mother were badly off. These dark feelings are what Cherubimon manipulates to use him. Once he regains his memories and emotions as Kouichi, the guilt he feels from his actions prevent him from opening up to Kouji, but when he faces the darkness that is within his own heart, he gains the true Spirits of darkness. As a newly born Warrior of Darkness, he chooses to fight alongside Kouji.

8th grader in a private school, Ohtori Academy. 14 years old. Just like his nickname “the best fighter in Japan” states, he spent each day from dawn until dusk fighting with his fists until one day he just happens to meet Agumon, who had escaped from DATS. After an all-out fist fight, the two of them make a pledge to be each other’s spiritual brother. This soon leads to him joining DATS. It was obvious at first that he preferred doing things his own way and he was vehemently against Tohma’s way, but before long they began to understand one another. In contrast to his wild personality, his consideration for family and friends is deeper than the average person, and he even takes good care of those who had only recently become his friend. Also, he does not hesitate to put his own self in danger in order to help them. His actions, which are unpredictable and lack common sense, often cause teamwork to fall apart, but there were also many times when his actions broke through a wall for them to keep moving forward. During the fight between the Digital World and the human world, he had developed greatly as a human being. After all of the battles were over, he heads to the Digital World to help rebuild it. His birthday is April 2nd. Blood type B.

An elite team member who returned home to Japan after being dispatched from DATS EU headquarters. A genius who graduated head of his class at the age of 13 from Stockholm Royal Medical School, and with his brilliant mind developed the Digimon transmission device used by headquarters. Not only is he intelligent, but he is also excellent at sports, particularly in boxing where not even an Olympic champion could beat him. He is even able to K.O. Masaru easily. Although he has the blood of the noble Norstein family from Austria, his mother is Japanese and not of nobility, so he was not accepted as a rightful successor and grew up in Japan with his mother. After his mother’s death, the Norstein family takes him in, but he detests his father Franz for leaving them. Because he and Masaru are polar opposites in every way, they fought over every possible thing, but through many battles, they accepted each other and became good partners. After their battle is over, he wins the Nobel Prize for medicine five years later at age 19.

The only woman among DATS active-working members. At age 18, she is the oldest among the three and perhaps because of that, she appears to be the closest to common sense compared to the other two. She does her work seriously, but as she is often turned this way and that by Masaru and Tohma’s actions, she almost always finds herself confronting an unexpected situation. Whispering “This is the worst” has become her favorite phrase. Although she has a hard-working personality, Lalamon exposes a messy side to her personal life, saying that “she doesn’t clean her room,” “she doesn’t fold her laundry,” and “she has bad sleeping form.” When she was a child, she formed a complex by comparing herself to her talented older sisters, and she lost her self-confidence. It was her first meeting with Lalamon that she was able to begin recovering from her dejection. It was also Lalamon’s presence that was able to help her get back on her feet when she grew faint-hearted when facing a battle in the Digital World. Her favorite foods are Musashiya’s strawberry mille-feuille and Yokonari’s coffee jelly. After the battle was over, she becomes a policewoman and works as Satsuma’s subordinate.

A young boy who Masaru and the others first meet in the Digital World. He has immense hatred for humans and fights against Masaru and co. many times. Although he identifies himself as a Digimon, he is actually a human whose name is Noguchi Ikuto. Born as the only son of the Noguchi couple, who are researchers of super-spacetime, he was sucked into a Digital Gate that suddenly opened within the research room of their home when he was a baby, leaving his whereabouts unknown. Lost in the Digital World, he was found and raised by Yukidarumon, but when Yukidarumon is killed by humans, he grows to hate them viciously. Following in allegiance with Mercurimon, who also felt hostility to humans, Ikuto fights using the boomerang as his weapon. That Mercurimon gives him his Digivice made by Daimon Suguru. After learning of his origins and returning to the human world, he is still unable to accept his circumstances, but after meeting his real parents his heart gradually shifts and he becomes a reliable comrade who fights the real enemy alongside Masaru and co. Five years later, after the battle is over, he goes to the same middle school as Chika.

The reason why he volunteered to become a Bio Digimon was because Kurata was paying him, and the mass killing of Digimon is nothing but business to him. Yoshino detested that coldheartedness and defeats him together with Rosemon, but learns from the picture that the fallen Ivan was holding that he was earning the money to support his family.

The beginning
— First, please tell us how the anime process got started.
Seki: It was originally a project that Bandai-san threw at Toei Animation. They wanted to turn the the “Digital Monster” mobile game for boys that had been shaped from the tamagotchi into an animation. In order to set that up, blah, blah, is how things first started. However, at that point we did have the “evolution” component but no other characters beyond the monsters that are found in the mobile game. They didn’t speak words and there was no story either.
— How did things flesh out from there?
— How did Kakudou-san end up getting involved?
— Was it decided for the TV series and movie to be set up at the same time?
— Were the basic contents decided at that point?
The Chosen Children
— How did 7 characters end up being the regulars?
— By the way, it’s also been said that you like writing up details about the families.
— The family situations surrounding the children makes one feel good to look at.
Enjoying location hunting
— It’s in the Tokyo arc that families are seen being involved.
— Having the setting take place in a specific area “Odaiba” is also unique.
— Was it to act as a contrast to the Digital World?
— The newly constructed office building of Fuji TV was destroyed.
— Was there anything during location hunting that left an impression on you?
— Did you frequently go location hunting?
The second series 3 years later
— The series began with the idea that it would run for a year, did it?
— When was the second season decided?
— Is that also why the Digimon Kaiser was introduced as a new element?
— A glimpse of that is seen in the CD dramas and novels.
— It certainly does feel connected from the movies.
— The relationship between the real world and the Digital World changes between the first and second series.
— The flow of time between broadcast was synchronized with the real seasons, so it was unique in that it felt like it was really taking place.
— Was the two series as a memoir of Takeru determined from the beginning?
From “partners” to “friends”
— The third series isn’t a continuation, but an entirely new series.
— “Tamers” became a series that conspicuously depict realism.
— Terriermon had a particular atmosphere about him.
— The series compositor, Konaka (Chiaki)-san wrote an episode in “02”.
— The idea of Digimon and children fusing together was innovative.
The visual of the Digital World
— The format of the Digital World itself was reformed.
— Did Kakudou-san make all of them without pay?

The fourth series is “to choose”.

— When we think of Digimon, the impression of “evolution music” is strong.
— It was a surprise that “brave heart” also played during “02”.
— If you include the single maxis, the total comes out to around 130.
— It got very busy around “02”.
— Holding a live concert at Zepp Tokyo.
— The CD dramas include some information that is quite worth listening to.
— There was even an episode involving 9/11.
Looking back after 10 years
— Now looking back after 10 years, what is “Digimon” to you?
— Last of all is a message to the fans from Seki-san.

02/27/10 – If you didn’t see your favorite character’s name in the table of contents, don’t worry. Everyone is in this book. I really recommend that everyone buys this book only because of the pictures in them. None are colored or new, but you get to see most of the original lineart for all characters/settings. If you ever wondered how that character looked front and back for fanart/cosplay purposes, this book is your encyclopedia. The descriptions that come with them are nothing new as far as I’ve read so far, though… they only describe the character as you had already seen them in the anime. Eh, since this blog isn’t to review the item though, I’ll stop there.
And no (since this seems to be a hot topic), sorry, there is no confirmation on Takeru/Hikari coupling for Zero Two — the official couples are Sora/Yamato and Miyako/Ken. That’s it! The “Column” pages for this book are only one page and give the minimum of information.
Because it is both a 380-ish page book and I have exams coming up this week, I’ll be updating this page pretty slowly during the first week of March. I think I’ll start with the interview first.

The Tamers are always fighting with Digimon. Naturally, because it wears them out, they’ve decided to have an outdoor picnic to refresh themselves. Will they be able to spend their time in quiet rest and relaxation?

Everyone has gone into the mountains today to have a pleasant picnic.
“Ah! Look, there’s a stream!”
Terriermon went into the water with Jian.
“Jian, look! I caught a fish!” Terriermon said happily.
Jian looked as if he was quite enjoying himself, too. “Now we’ll have plenty to eat for lunch.”
“Ahahaha! Moumantai!”

Once they had everything ready, all of them settled down to an amiable lunch!!
Takato and the other boys ate quickly and finished in a flash, while Ruki and Renamon chewed theirs unhurriedly.
“Renamon, want to try this?”
“O–Okay… What is it?”
“It’s deep-fried chicken gizzards. Here.”
Crunch, crunch, swallow.
“…You’ve sure brought a lot, Ruki.”

Guilmon was very full.
But oh? It looks like something has caught his attention.
“Takato! What’s that thing flying up there? Guilmon wants to know!!”
“Um, it says here that it’s… a Stern-us cin-ah-ray-shus.” [Sturnus cineraceus, the white-cheeked starling]
“Ah! It’s getting away!!”
“Let’s go after it! ‘White Wings’!!”
“Culumon is coming too, culu!!”

It was a normal Sunday afternoon, filled with nothing. A happy moment for the Tamers.

The Tamers on holiday… What do they do to spend their free time? We’ve taken a closer look at that part of their lives!!

Supervisor Yamaki playing the card game!!

It happened one day in the early afternoon, at the hiding place Takato and his friends used in Shinjuku Central Park. Four shadows could be seen in there. One of them was Yamaki, who looked rather upset, while the other was Takato, who looked unruffled. Both of them were holding cards for the Digimon card game. Apparently, Yamaki had been attempting to research the digimon from the card game’s point of view, but the match looked to be coming to a close…
The last two shadows were Guilmon and Juri, who were looking at the card players with broad grins on their faces.
Yamaki: Gooo! Attack Plug-in A!!
Takato: Ahh… so that’s how you’re going at it… but. Defense Plug-in C!
Yamaki: W–Whaaat?!
The Angewomon that Yamaki was attacking with, was defeated. This made it a total of 19 losses for Yamaki.
Takato: The problem is in your timing when you use your cards… you need to read more into the flow of the battle.
Perhaps because he was making consecutive wins against an adult, Takato looked a little triumphant.
Guilmon: Wow, Takato! Wow!! You took him down so fast!
Guilmon, all innocence, praised Takato.
Juri: Yamaki-san is pretty weak in the card game.
Katou-san, who also didn’t mean anything spiteful behind her comment, was smiling innocently.
Takato: Oh, don’t compliment me that much, Katou-san. You, too, Guilmon. Ehehe! So, Yamaki-san, how about another battle–
Before Takato reached the end of his sentence, Yamaki suddenly stood up. But because the roof of the playground structure they were sitting in was quite low, he bumped his head against it and gave out an involuntary yell.
Yamaki: Gah!
Takato and the others were surprised by Yamaki’s abrupt action. They looked at Yamaki with real worry in their wide, round eyes.
Yamaki: ……I–It’s nothing. I really envy you children. Uh… right. I have an appointment with the Wild Bunch to get to now. Um, you know. Karaoke. …Excuse me.
Fixing his lopsided sunglasses back on to his nose, Yamaki coolly got down from the structure. Then he fled, to get away from there as quickly as possible. As he was running, Yamaki thought. He definitely was not going to be going to Matsuda Bakery for awhile. No way was he going to be able to look at Takato’s face! Also, he wanted to go straight to someone right now and have them comfort him. Oh, that’s right, he had his good partner Reika. Surely she would comfort his tired self. Ahh, it’s so great to have a partner. Partners are the best!

— 10 minutes later —
Yamaki was scolded at by Reika. That was because he had forgotten to buy the Guilmon Bread that she had asked him to get at Matsuda Bakery. Reika was extremely hungry.
With drooped shoulders, Yamaki was forced to go buy the bread. And when he ran into Takato and the others at the front door of Matsuda Bakery, Yamaki felt even more awkward.

— 5 minutes later —
After buying Guilmon Bread, Yamaki headed back home. The expression on his face was bouyant and chipper, while in his hand, he held a bag filled with delicious bread and the “White Wings” card that Takato had given him as he cheered him up. While he held back something warm that came close to brimming out of his eyes, Yamaki thought from the bottom of his heart:
“Hn… I really do… envy you children…”

A mesmerizing gravure photo shoot?!

Flicker, flicker, flicker… Flash!
Flash!
Ruki’s eyes were squinted as she underwent the constant barrage of flashing lights. Today, through Rumiko’s introduction, she was enduring a gravure photo shoot that was aimed at young women.
Juri: Ruki-chaaan, try smiling! Not every girl gets to be in a photo shoot, so we should look pretty for our pictures woof!
Contrasting with Ruki’s scowl, Juri was in high spirits. Although she wore a dress similar to Ruki’s, she did not let go of her usual hand puppet in her right hand.
Ruki: …I don’t care if I’m not pretty!
Ruki mumbled, keeping her eyes downcast as she said this. Maybe the reason why Ruki’s face was red was because she, too, didn’t really hate being in a photo shoot that much.
As if realizing Ruki’s mental state, Renamon nodded in a way that conveyed deep emotion.
Renamon: Ruki… you’re very pretty.
Ruki blushed even harder at Renamon’s words.
Ruki: W–What are you talking about?! Are you stupid?! I’m going home!!
Juri: Ooh! They still haven’t taken good pictures of us yet! Hang in there just a little more, okay?
Forcibly, Juri held Ruki back as she attempted to leave. It was at this time that Impmon arrived at the photo shoot studio.
Impmon: Yo, guys, what are you doing? Let me join, it’ll be an honor to you!
As Impmon said this, he ran in circles around the cameramen. At this rate, he’ll make a mess of the entire photo shoot.
Sensing this, Renamon instantly unleashed her special attack.
Renamon: I won’t let anyone get in the way of disturbing Ruki in her finest clothes! Koyousetsu!!
Impmon: W–What did I do wrong?!
Impmon was blown away, along with the photo shoot equipment.
Around this time, Culumon, clad in a dress and hat that had been put on him, was squirming at Ruki’s feet.
Culumon: Culumon can’t see in front of him, culu~

The melancholy of Lopmon

An early afternoon on a Sunday. Coming back home from an errand, Jianliang could hear the joyful laughter of Shaochung coming from further in the apartment.
Jianliang: That Shaochung, she’s playing house with Lopmon again…
Shaochung: Lopmon-chan, it’s time for your milk~
A smile spread across her entire face, Shaochung brought a toy baby bottle closer and closer to Lopmon.
Lopmon: Um… but one hath already receiveth one’s three o’clock snack from one’s mother dear–
Shaochung: ‘I.’ ‘Have’!!
Lopmon: …! I have…
Shaochung: And babies can’t talk!!
Lopmon: ……….
Shaochung: What a good boy! Drink a lot so you can become big and strong~
Lopmon stood at attention and froze, unable to finish saying what he had been attempting to. Paying no attention to this, Shaochung forcefully pushed the baby bottle into the area around Lopmon’s mouth.

— 1 hour later —
Jianliang: Oh, did she fall asleep?
The still young Shaochung had apparently gotten tired as she played house and had fallen asleep… Next to her, wearing baby clothes stood a paralyzed Lopmon, staring blankly in front of him. Shaochung was holding onto one of his ears as she slept, preventing him from moving away from there…
Jianliang: You’ll catch a cold, Shaochung…
Jianliang tenderly put a blanket over the gently snoring Shaochung.
Shaochung: …Mmnh… Lopmon… we’ll always… be together…
Hearing Shaochung’s sleep-talk, the two of them involuntarily looked at her in surprise.
Jianliang: Lopmon. Please keep looking after Shaochung from now on.
Lopmon: As one dost well aware already. One hath… I have made a promise. No matter what happens, I will protect Shaochung.
In that moment… Lopmon thought he saw Shaochung smile a happy smile.

An unscrupulous battle – Hirokazu VS Kenta, their struggle to the death

It took place in a certain park along a riverbed. The place had become a bit of a hot topic among the kindergartners who lived near the area, because, as part of a regional service, Hirokazu and Kenta performed a real Digimon battle there every day.
However, for some reason, the legendary Tamer, Ryo Akiyama, was among the spectators today?! When they thought about it later, it was his very presence that started the entire nightmare…
Kenta: Here I go! Card Slash! Steel Drill!
His voice was as authoritative as it always was, in that afternoon at the riverbed park. First, MarineAngemon’s legs became a drill, and he attacked, which Guardromon quickly turned to avoid. So far, everything was going the same as always.
However, immediately after that, there was a loud roar as MarineAngemon crashed into the ground, and what appeared was a large hole!! Normally, Kenta would never use this much power! Something about Kenta… was very wrong today!!
Kenta: He dodged it?! Then, Card Slash! Speed Sevens! Chase him down with your high speed!!
The drill sped up under his strict, demon-like instructions!! Guardromon dodged them desperately, but every time he did, there would form another giant hole in the ground!!
Ryo: K–Kenta-kun! That’s overdoing it!!
Apparently, Kenta’s simple desire to show off to Ryo had begun to get out of control?!
And then there was Hirokazu, whose eyes were already gleaming and bloodshot!!
Hirokazu: Heh heh heh! I’m much more amazing! Look! Card Slash! King Device!!
Ryo: That’s not good either! Hirokazu-kun, you’re being rash!
Hirokazu Slashed the forbidden card, making Guardromon grow like a giant!! But the sudden weight caused Guardromon to lose his balance, and he began to fall over!!
Hirokazu: Gyaaaah!
Ryo: What else did you think would happen?! That card can only be used by advanced level– Ah, hey! What are you doing?!
Oh no! Cyberdramon, who’d been standing impatiently at the sidelines, had now lunged into the fight! The riverbed park became a scene of carnage within minutes, resulting in the kindergartners running around trying to escape!
Ryo: Stop!!
According to the rumors later on, it is said that that fearsome battle went on for about three hours. After that, no Digimon ever came to that place ever again…

This is Mayumi Yamaguchi, who voices Jianliang Lee. [as JIAN] Um… if you hear Takato getting the lyrics wrong, don’t say anything weird. It’ll just bring trouble for everyone. Also, Sun Visor-kun and Glasses-kun did some interesting singing there. [Note: They sing the “Hey, hey, hey!” part of the song] Also, um, right after the part where Impmon sang, I was wearing headphones, but I guess my headphones were too big! [laughs]

This is Aoi Tada, who voices Terriermon. [as TERRIERMON] Long time no see, guys! How are you? It’s Terriermon. I really love singing, so I had lots and lots of fun. I hope you guys sing our song tons, too, okay? Bye now! Moumantai!

This is Yukiko Tamaki, who voices Hirokazu Shioda. [as HIROKAZU] All right, Guardromon! A song! I finally got to sing again! All right, now’s my only chance… Card Slash! I’ve always wanted to do this… uhh, give it up, huh?

GUARDROMON: Dadada! Hirokazu! Don’t Card Slash out of nowhere like that! It won’t do any good anyway… Why did I de-evolve? After I fought so hard… I’m Andromon, you know! [sighs] Well, never mind. [in normal voice] Is Cyberdramon, as voiced by me, Ikkei Seta. Well, since he’s not a character of many words, I was planning to leave it at that, because if I keep chatting away it’ll just destroy his image. But now I’ll add on a little act. It’s a continuation of Ryo’s ad-lib from earlier.
[as CYBERDRAMON] (panting while running) Why does Ryo keep getting naked every single time we evolve?! I’m getting sick of it! At least evolve with your clothes on once in awhile, damn it! Ahh, I gotta get away while I still can!

This is Makoto Tsumura, who voices Takato Matsuda. Um… eh… It’s been a long time since I’ve met everyone here, so I had a lot of fun. And since it’s been awhile since I performed as Takato Matsuda, I kind of… am not sure what’s going on. Everyone, please listen to this song, and… how can I put this… Yeah. Please compare how different it is to Wada-san’s intensity! The end.

This is Masako Nozawa, who voices Guilmon. [as GUILMON] I’m Guilmon! I’m super happy to meet everyone again after all this time. Takato seems so happy that he doesn’t know what to say. TRACK 06: Team Tamers Comments (Part 2)
LOPMON: One offers one’s sincere compliments to the Digimon CD’s 100th title. One hath felt nothing but honor for being able to participate in this memorable event. This hath been without doubt due to the support of everyone—
TERRIERMON: You’re talking too long!
LOPMON: Eh? …Terriermon got mad, so one shall leave it at that today!
[in normal voice] And so, this was Aoi Tada, who voices Lopmon!

This is Youko Asada, who voices Juri Katou. Juri-chan had a very harsh fate, woof— and along the way, I slipped into character, woof! Um, I hope she ends up living a happy life with Takato-kun in the end, woof. So I guess that would mean she ends up making bread for a living… and since Guilmon Bread is selling so well, I think it would be nice if Leomon Bread was made, too. I should ask. This was Juri Katou.

This is Tomoko Kaneda, who voices Culumon. [as CULUMON] Culu, culu, culu, culu! Everyone, be happy, happy, happy! Culumon has fun with everyone together! Culumon will play with everyone! Yay! [giggles] That tickles, culu! That was fun! I hope we continue to stay friends, culu culu!

This is Hiroaki Hirata, who voices Leomon. It’s been awhile since I last participated in a Digimon song. Leomon showed up as an evil character in his first appearance, and since he was a muscley character that I rarely have the opportunity to perform, I did my best to make my voice as deep as possible [in deep voice] about as deep as this [return to regular voice] but then he evolved and got even more muscley, and I remember thinking that I had to give my lines out as fast as possible before my voice gave out. That was how the first series ended and I was feeling sad about that until, wonder of wonders, I was brought back to perform as Juri-chan’s Digimon partner. He had a surprisingly short life, but it was the first time in awhile since I’d received a Digimon script and I was so engrossed that this stupid old man here even checked on Renamon’s lines by accident. It was a very enjoyable series. Even now, everyone seems to be working hard on it as things keep evolving, but please continue to do good work! And so this was, not Renamon, but Leomon’s voice, Hiroaki Hirata. Thank you.

Congratulations on the 100th title! Yay! [claps] This is Ai Nagano. The truth is… well, since we’ve reached the 100th title that’s amazing as it is, but the truth is, there is another amazing thing that I treasure personally. I actually have appeared in all Digimon series, but have all of you realized this? There may be some people out there who already know, but in unlabeled [Note: The Japanese abbreviate “Digimon Adventure” as the “unlabeled” (mujirushi) series, compared to the series that came after it] and 02… [as LADYDEVIMON] Hahahaha! It’s LadyDevimon! [in normal voice] So I performed as LadyDevimon. And in Tamers, you already know who, right? [as SHAOCHUNG] Lopmon, Terriermon, I love you! [in normal voice] So there was Shaochung Lee and… [as REIKA] We’ve detected a Wild One! [in normal voice] Reika Ohtori, one of the female operators. Also in Frontier… [as TOGEMON] It’s time for lunch! Everyone please return to your seats! [in normal voice] I was Togemon-sensei! Those are one of the many things that I’m happy about personally, but as Shaochung, what else can I say but that being able to sing a song was the happiest thing. So, in closing, here is a comment from Shaochung. [as SHAOCHUNG] I hope we see each other again, everyone! Bye-bye!

Okay! This is Yuka Imai, who voices Renamon. I spent a very enriching and fun year, being able to meet Ruki and the others in Digimon Tamers. Even after it’s ended, being able to sing songs with everyone like this makes me really think that I’ve made a lot of good memories. And so, a comment from Renamon. [as RENAMON] Are you protecting someone? Those feelings of wanting to protect someone you love will become a weapon that will grant your dreams. But if there are times when you lose heart or feel confused, remember us Digimon somewhere within your heart. I guarantee that it will bring you strength. It’s a deal! [in normal voice] And so… Ruki-chan!

RUKI: Yes, yes, this is Ruki Makino reporting from the studio. Congratulations on the 100th title! I just finished singing right now myself, and as the Digimon Queen, I enjoyed it. A secret conference held at a grilled meat restaurant?!

The setting takes place here, in a grilled meat restaurant. Taichi, Daisuke, Takato, and Takuya created a rather puzzling display as all four of them huddled close together and continued to eat their grilled meat in silence….. For some reason, none of their partner Digimon were with them.
Taichi: Y’know, when we meet up like this, the meat tastes exceptionally good!
Daisuke: Yeah, it’s so great we picked the All-You-Can-Eat course. We can stuff ourselves as much as we want!
Takuya: Daisuke really is stuffing himself as much as he wants… Ah, he stole Taichi-san’s meat again….
Takuya observed the scene idly as, for some reason or another in the general flow of things, he had been put in charge of grilling the meat. Thoughts ran through his head such as, So this wasn’t even an important conference to begin with, and, Why do I have to keep endlessly grilling the meat like this.
Takato: I really wished I could have brought Guilmon with me, though…
Daisuke: No, you don’t. He’ll cost you a ton of money. Takuya gets it easy because he doesn’t have to worry about stuff like that, eh!?
Takuya: Haha… ha…
Takuya had noticed before any of them… that Agumon, Guilmon, and V-mon were staring at them from outside. What’s more, V-mon looked as if he was crying!
Takato: Can we get a receipt for this later?
Takuya: He’s like a picky adult.

Sunglasses Mask Runs Wild!

Today the town is holding a small, one-day festival. An elementary school was used as its grounds, and a variety of food carts were lined up all around campus. By the puppet-lover Katou-san’s suggestion, the inside of the gymnasium was used to hold a Puppet Show Contest.
For the benefit of the large crowd that formed the audience, Chairwoman Katou-san introduced the performers in a loud voice.
Juri: Now for our next contestants, please give your applause to Entry Number 11, Miyako Inoue-san and Iori Hida-kun! The title of their play is “Sunglasses Mask Runs Wild”!! Please give it your all, the both of you~
Miyako-san has been called upon!
A suspicious-looking male puppet wearing sunglasses and brandishing a whip in his hand slowly peeked out from behind the stage… and, oh dear, it started hitting the Gazimon puppet that Iori-kun was holding!!
Miyako: Work, damn it! If you don’t, you get this!! And this! And this!
Miyako-san’s words were naturally tinged with ferocity.
“Stop that!”
“Stay back if you know what’s good for you, sunglasses man!”
The assembly room was filled with a storm of jeers and roaring laughter!!
Reika: Hey, do you think Sunglasses Mask could be you?
Yamaki: I don’t have an interest in whips!
While this charming conversation was taking place next to him, one boy was trying to leave the room for some reason…!?

Ghost House Panic?!

Jyou’s middle school is holding its annual school festival today. Because it’s the festival of a famous private school, the schoolgrounds are bustling with activity and there are tons of events to participate in! Even inside the school building, Jyou’s class had devoted much of their time preparing their haunted house, and it is now a huge success.
Izumi: Umm… I guess this is the place! It’s got a nice atmosphere going, don’t you think?!
Ruki: Well, let’s not get our hopes up.
Holding their written invitations at hand, the three of them disappeared into the dark gloom of the classroom.
Jyou: Heheheh. They say that the panicked screams of cute girls are well-suited for a haunted house!
Within the darkness, frightened screams and shouts of excitement could be heard mingling together.
Izumi: Ew! What is that? Kyah!!
Izumi gave the reactions that Jyou expected. The satisfaction from that made scaring her worth it.
Ruki: ……? What’s this?
Picking up the “fried tofu” that had been lowered in front of her face, she tossed it over her shoulder with a bored expression.
Among them, Tailmon was the only one who appeared nervous and kept constantly looking over her shoulder.
Rustle! There was a sound!!
Tailmon: Look out, Hikari! Stay back!!
Tailmon received the ghost (Junpei) that had jumped out at them with a flying kick.
Tailmon: You’re not hurt, are you?!

Some of them ventured over to the food stands, while others took a nap under the shade of the trees… each of them spent their break time however they wanted.
Sora was sitting on the lawn as she gazed at Taichi and the others playing soccer. When she glanced over to the sandbox, she saw—
Sora: Oh no, those children…
At the sandbox, Tomoki and Shaochung were having a huge fight.
Tomoki: I fight on my own, so it’s obvious that I’m more awesome!
Shaochung: Lopmon is strong, too! And who cares about this thing anyway! Take this!
Tomoki: AHH! You smashed it!!
Sora: Now now, you two!
Both she and Jianliang ran over to calm them down.
Sora: Tomoki… it’s true that, in our case, our Digimon are the ones who do the actual fighting. But that doesn’t mean their Tamer just stands by and watches them.
Jianliang: As their partners, we support them by providing the best conditions they can use to fight. It may be expressed in a different form, but even Tamers fight for the sake of peace.
Tomoki blinked at Sora and Jianliang’s words, and wiped away his tears before lifting his head. There he saw tears streaming down Shaochung’s face as she looked back at him with a crushed expression…
Tomoki: I was wrong.
Quietly, he held out his right hand to Shaochung.
Tomoki: Let’s be friends again, okay, Shaochung?

At a park, on a sunny afternoon, where they had decided to meet.

They had decided to meet at a famous spot in front of the Digimon Kaiser statue. Just like any other day, tons of Digimon here are causing a commotion.
Mummymon: Wait for me, Archnemon!
Culumon: I—I broke it off, culu!
Gazimon: Uwaah!? Please stop doing that, Etemon-sama!!
It may appear to be an unexpectedly noisy spectacle, but this is what usually happens every day.
And every day, a boy would arrive there with his Digimon. Whenever it was close to sundown, he would come here and silently play his harmonica.
Gabumon: It’s pretty noisy out here again.
Yamato: Doesn’t matter.
Apparently, it was the boy’s dream to form a band. That is why, in order to do so, he would never fail to practice his instrument here.
Two young boys who passed by him caught the strains of his melody.
Kouichi: That kid over there is good.
Kouji: Yeah, it’s a nice sound.
Kouichi: Do you think the Digimon next to him is his partner?
Kouji: Must be the one on the right.
The gentle melody of the harmonica floated in the breeze as if it were carefully blanketing the peaceful evening. The Digimon Kaiser continued to watch over the scene in silence.
Kouichi: Anyway, I guess Junpei-kun isn’t coming.
Kouji: Let’s just go home.

The human Warriors take the time out to offer their thoughts of people important in their lives in the form of a letter. As always with the Frontier gang, their letters range from sweet to utterly silly.
